Would You Still Follow God If Hell Didn't Exist?
Written by Esther Oluwole Most of us have grown up believing that a belief in Jesus protects us from hell, but what if I told you that hell didn't exist? Would you still love Him? Pray? Obey? Pursue holiness? Or would you walk away? What if I told you that there are no eternal consequences waiting for you on the other side? No hellfire. No demons. No torment. No separation from God. No fear of hell whatsoever. Would you still decide to follow Jesus? Faith Based on Fear Genuinely, fear is a motivator. It gets people moving, requires obedience, and it's easy to convince a person to convert. This is why many churches leaned so easily into hellfire preaching-it works, on some level anyway. But fear doesn't create intimacy. Fear driven love doesn't last or grow genuine connection. And really, a relationship based on fear is fragile and toxic, and when the fear subsides-or is questioned- often the faith does as well. 1 John 4:18 reminds us, "Perfect love casts out fear...
